Mason Jar Succulent Hanger

Have a mason jars laying around like I do?  Instead of filling them with goodies, how about filling them with a succulent and crafting an adorable plant hanger?  Makes the perfect hostess gift!  See my original post about large succulent hangers below:

Mason Jar Succulent Holder (7.5” tall jar)

Materials:

Abbreviations:

  • Ch – chain
  • Sc – single crochet
  • Dc – double crochet
  • MR – Magic Ring
  • Sk – skip a stitch

Round 1: ch 2, 11 dc in ring. Join. Pull Closed.  (12 dc)

Round 2:  ch 2, dc in same stitch and chain 1, 2 dc then chain 1 in each stitch.  Repeat around. Join.  (12 2dc clusters)

Round 3:  slip stitch into chain space from previous row.  Ch 2, 2dc in same chain space, skip to next chain space, 3 dc in chain space, repeat all the way around.  Join. (12 3dc groups)

Round 4: ch 1. back loop sc all the way around. Join. (36 stitches)

Round 5:  ch 2, 2dc in same stitch, ch 1, *sk 2 stitches, 3 dc in same stitch* repeat * to * all the way around (12 3dc clusters)

Round 6: slip stitch into next chain space, repeat round 6 in previous row chain spaces (12 3dc clusters). Join.

Round 7: slip stitch into next chain space, repeat round 6 in previous row chain spaces (12 3dc clusters). Join.

Round 8: slip stitch into next chain space, repeat round 6 in previous row chain spaces (12 3dc clusters). Join.

Round 9: slip stitch into next chain space, repeat round 6 in previous row chain spaces (12 3dc clusters). Join.

Round 10:  ch 1. sc all the way around (36 stitches)

You have now finished the jar part.  Now you will start the hanging loops.

After join, *ch 28 and sc in chain space (through the entire row for sturdiness) after 5th 3dc cluster* Repeat from * to *.  Join to bottom of first chain (of the first chain you made). You will now have 4 hanging loops.

Chain 100, fasten off.  Make 4 long strands.

Loop each chain through the 4 hanging loops (doubling the chain).  Gather each chain together in a group at the top and wrap many times over with string until very tight.  Weave the end through with needle.

Fill with succulents and hang!
