Crochet Baby Bear Bonnet

This adorable little bear bonnet works up so quickly for a last minute baby gift that you’ll want to make a dozen!

Materials:

Abbreviations:

  • MR – Magic Ring
  • ch – chain
  • st – stitch
  • sc – single crochet
  • hdc – half double crochet

Baby Bonnet in Big Twist Natural Blend – Almond (fits 6-12months)

Ch 33

Row 1:  hdc in 3rd st from hook and hdc across.  Turn. (31 st)

Row 2:  ch 2.  Hdc in each st across. (count ch 2 as a st).  Turn. (31 st)

Rows 3-10: repeat row 2.

Cut yarn after 16 inches.  Join rectangle in half by whip stitching up the back after folded with long yarn piece.  Fasten off.  Turn right side out after stitching back closed.

Ch 35 and join to both left side of bonnet.  Sc around the hat and end with a ch 35.

Ears:

MR

Sc 6 in ring pull closed (do not join).  Turn.

Row 1: Ch 1. Sc in same ch 1 st, 2sc, 2 hdc, 2 sc, sc, sc.

Row 2: ch 1. Sc, 2 sc, sc, 2 sc, sc, 2 sc, sc, 2 sc, sc. Fasten off.  Make 2.  (13 st)

Finishing:

Run tapestry needle in an out of bottom of ear and cinch together a bit to make the ear more rounded.  Sew ear to 5th row of hat on either side.

    • Hi! I'm so happy you're making it! I must have left out my hook size by accident. Sorry about that! I used a size 6 hook and Big Twist Natural Blend yarn which is a size 6 yarn (bulky). Thanks so much and good luck!
