A Beginner’s Guide to Corner to Corner Crochet!!
I’m so excited to share this corner to corner (c2c) blanket tutorial with you!! I have a real love/hate relationship with corner to corner blankets. I LOOOOVE the finished product, but it’s not a project that travels well, and it takes a good amount of patience (like any good crochet project). Looking at a blanket with a design can be so intimidating and I’m here to tell you, it’s not! With a little planning and organization, you too can make a gorgeous c2c. Here are a few tips I have and somethings to think about before you start your project:
- Try to find a perler bead pattern or cross stitch pattern that is about 50 squares across and 65 squares vertically. Anything less than 50, will make a narrow blanket. This blanket is a good sized lap throw and measures 42″ x 57″.
- I would suggest not doing a picture with too many different colors. It can be cumbersome to continuously switch colors and weave ends.
- Make 2 balls of each skein, or buy several skeins of each color. (less weaving in!)
- Print the picture big, so you can mark off each square as you go along.
- Untangle balls as you go along, so you don’t have a tangled mess as you do your rows.
- Have patience and fun!!
The blanket I chose to do is a pixel pattern I found on Pinterest. As soon as I saw it knew it would be perfect! (ps- she has several wonderful ones!) You can download it here:

Corner to corner Instructions:
First Square: ch 6, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc, dc.
Second Square: ch 6, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc, dc.
Turn first square over and ss into ch of that square.
Third Square: ch 3, dc, dc, dc in to ch space of first square. Now you are the bottom of your picture and will be working the squares back up. When you reach the top on row 3, you will work down to the bottom of your picture for row 4.
– As you increase in each row, you will ch 6 at the beginning of every row until you get to the left side of the picture when the increases stop.
– When the increases stop you will ch 3 and ss to the top of the same sq. Ch 3, dc, dc, dc in the chain. (no increase) This square will be on top of the previous row.
– Each row will be opposite stitches of the previous row. It will give your blanket that pretty texture!
As you work your rows, you will mark them off!
Border: 1 row of sc of each color except aqua. In this order: Black, pewter, light grey, white.
